The Valchiavenna ski area offers 55km of downhill ski slopes and 25Km of cross country tracks from November to late spring. All skiing equipment can be rented. Typical restaurant service available on the slopes. |

In the typical Valchiavenna tradition, you can enjoy our local cold meats, especially bresaola, as well as cheeses produced in our valleys, butter, “gnocchetti”, ribs with polenta taragna. |

The “Via Spluga” track connects Thusis to Chiavenna: it’s a hiking trail that has been used for thousands of years, from the end of the last glacial era (about 10,000 years ago) to modern day. It has connected different cultures and eras, from the Mesolithic (Stone Age) to the Swiss-Romanesque, to the Walser and to the Lombard Alpine.

Walking along the ancient roads in the centre of Chiavenna (3 Km away) and its surroundings, you can admire the richly decorated facades of the buildings, the small squares with their fountains, visit museums (the Tesoro museum, the Bottonera Mill, Palazzo Vertemate Franchi).

A few kilometres away, you can try rock climbing in various levels of difficulty. The itineraries mainly require balance and adherence but there are also passageways in crevices that call for a more athletic preparation. Rock climbing is possible all year round.

Although situated amid the mountains, water sport lovers can easily reach the northern shores of Lake Como (Gravedona, Domaso, Sorico, Colico and the Bay of Piona) and visit towns rich history and culture but where all water sports are practised. There are well-known sailing, windsurfing, catamaran, canoeing and water-skiing schools.

A horse riding centre only 15Km away organises lessons for children, horse pet therapy for the disabled, trekking and simple horse rides to get to know the valley and slowly discover is tracks and paths. |
